LAHORE: Pakistan’s highly-rated teenage pacer Naseem Shah’s participation in the upcoming tri-nation series in New Zealand is doubtful after he was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted to hospital here on Wednesday.

It saw the 19-year-old miss the fifth Twenty20 international against England later on Wednesday and the Pakistan Cricket Board said a decision about Naseem’s participation in the rest of the seven-match series will be decided after assessing his medical reports.

Naseem only took part in the opening game of the series in Karachi where he went wicketless and conceded 41 runs off his four overs.

The England series is due to conclude on Sunday and Pakistan are due to leave on Oct 4 for New Zealand, where they face the hosts and Bangladesh ahead of the Twenty20 World Cup later that month.
