A second loud blast has been heard in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad, as air defences have been seen intercepting an attack over the US embassy, an AFP journalist reports.

The type of the attack remains unclear. It comes shortly after a “projectile” hit a hotel in Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone, which houses the US embassy and other diplomatic missions, as well as international institutions and government offices.
