Israel has hit a central Beirut neighbourhood, local media reports according to AFP, in a strike that came without warning as other strikes hit the city’s southern suburbs.

Local media reported the strike hit the central Zuqaq al-Blat neighbourhood, where the Israeli military last week hit a Beirut branch of the Hezbollah-linked financial firm Al-Qard Al-Hassan.

An AFP correspondent heard the sound of several explosions early today as the strikes hit.
