Shipping monitor Kpler reports that there was a 19.5 per cent decrease in ship crossings through the Strait of Hormuz last week, with only three vessels crossing on August 16.

“Routing also remained constrained, with vessels using the Iranian Unilateral Scheme or undetermined routes, while no crossings were recorded through the Hormuz TSS or Omani routes,” Kpler writes on X.

The monitor also notes that crossings through the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea went up by 6.7pc to 254, though “security conditions remain volatile”.
