Iran’s defence ministry says it will restructure the country’s defence industry based on experience gained during the war with the US and Israel, state news agency IRNA reports.
In a statement, the ministry stresses “the need to adapt defence capabilities to emerging requirements” and notes that currently, its defence-industrial base has been “built on domestic knowledge and capabilities in response to threats and sanctions”.
The ministry adds that the war has served as a real test of Tehran’s defence capabilities.
“The Ministry of Defence stressed that the wars also revealed new requirements as well as existing strengths and weaknesses. Accordingly, it said, the defence industry will be continuously modernised, restructured and updated in line with the lessons learned from these wars,” IRNA reports.
“The statement also emphasised the concept of a ‘revolution in the defence industry’ based on national defence participation, the use of knowledge-based companies’ capabilities, smart technologies, and accelerating the transformation of knowledge into defence capabilities,” it adds.
