Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has discussed the situation in the Middle East in a phone call with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, commending Pakistan for its role in the US-Iran peace process.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Ibrahim “praised Pakistan’s regional peace efforts and expressed his gratitude to the prime minister and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their leadership roles in steering these laudable efforts”.

In return, PM Shehbaz thanked his Malaysian counterpart for his country’s consistent support for Pakistan’s peace efforts, the statement reads.

It adds that he reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to keep working closely with brotherly and friendly countries, including Malaysia, to advance the peace process.
