Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has said that Tehran will “continue defending its interests and will not remain passive”, according to state broadcaster IRIB.

The broadcaster quotes Baqaei as saying that while Iran has used “every diplomatic means” to stop the war, it is the US which has violated its commitments, even under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action nuclear agreement with Washington, which US President Donald Trump tore up during his first term in 2018.
