European shares edge higher as investors took comfort in a softer-than-feared US sanctions package against Iran, while gains in defence stocks boosted sentiment, according to Reuters.

The pan-European STOXX 600 up 0.3 per cent at 656.14, as of 0718 GMT, with defence stocks leading sectoral gains, up 1pc.

The tech sector rises 0.3pc, with investors awaiting Nvidia’s results on Wednesday amid concerns the chipmaker may struggle to meet lofty expectations.
