In a sharp rebuke on X, Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has accused US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent of lying about the amount of oil being moved out of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the true financial cost of Washington’s war.

The speaker is responding to a post on X by Bessent, which claims that 130 million barrels of oil have left the strategic waterway.

“For real 130s, tell your staffer to pull Moody’s showing $130+ billion in war costs, and ask another how much Jane Street burned north of $130m shorting oil for you in just one futures roll,” Ghalibaf writes, adding “Liar, liar, pants on fire … liar, liar, yields on fire”.
