Iran’s Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref says that the country has overcome challenges to its sovereignty and foiled “military, economic, social and political plots” against it, according to state broadcaster Press TV.

The VP says that Iran has “repeatedly overcome attempts by the ‘system of domination’ led by the United States to bring down the Islamic republic”, the broadcaster reports, adding that he says Tehran’s strategy in recent decades has revolved around using advanced technology “to meet the needs of the country and the peoples of the region”.

He adds that Iran is preparing for “economic war”.
