LRC races to honour 1965 war heroes

LAHORE: Seven races, featuring all cup events named after the 1965 Pakistan-India war heroes, will be held during a day/night race meeting here at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The meeting is being held to commemorate Pakistan’s Defence Day.

The main event, the Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider Cup to be run over 1200 metres, contains five runners, including Sardar Bey, Queen Pharaoh, Green Card, Sher Khan and Public Star.

Other events of the day include Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Cup, Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed Cup, Major Muhammad Tufail Shaheed Cup, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Cup, Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Cup and Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider Cup.
