Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, has said that the United States “is now trying to present the world with the bill for a disruption of its own making — and put Iran’s name on it”.

He said that the Strait of Hormuz was wide open until the US and Israel attacked Iran, unleashing an “unlawful and savage war”.

“In Washington’s narrative, a war started by the US must somehow be recast as the cost of Iran’s behaviour to the world,” he said.

“America started the war but expects the whole world to pay the bill, while portraying Iran as the one that caused this chaos. That is utterly preposterous!” he said.
