Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has threatened US oil and gas interests in the region after Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that Washington would destroy Iranian tankers if Tehran attacked US Navy vessels.

“American oil and gas companies across these waters and facilities share that exposure,” Ghalibaf said in a post on X.

“Strike our assets and you get struck,” he said, adding: “We’ve already proven it. Ask the bases that are no longer viable.”
