US consumers paying $100bn in extra energy costs due to Iran war: report

A real-time estimate from Brown University has shown that American consumers are paying $100 billion in extra energy costs due to the Iran war, Axios reports.

“The Iran War Energy Cost Tracker from Brown’s Watson School says higher gasoline and diesel prices have cost the average US household more than $760 since the war began [on] February 28,” the outlet reports.

It notes that consumers in Texas have paid $11bn in extra energy costs since the start of the war, followed by California ($8bn) and Florida ($5bn).
