Hossein Taeb, head of Iran’s Basij paramilitary organisation, says that the “majesty” of the US military has been shattered during the Iran war, according to news agency ISNA.

“The majesty of the American army was broken in this war,” he is quoted as saying. “An army that targets schools and weddings is not the army of a superpower, but rather a criminal and child-killing army, and today the whole world sees this reality.”

Taeb has also questioned claims by the Trump administration that Iran’s navy has been destroyed.

“The Americans claim that they have targeted the Iranian navy and air force and have destroyed the country’s armed forces; but if such a claim is true, why are they still trying and fighting to take control of the Strait of Hormuz?”
