QUETTA: Balochistan Police have arrested 785 suspects, including 44 proclaimed offenders and 249 absconders, and rescued 16 abductees, including an 11-year-old girl, across 33 districts in the province’s nine ranges during operations over the past four weeks. The police also ensured the safe return of the rescued abductees to their families.
According to a press release issued by the police spokesperson, the campaign was launched under the directives of Balochistan Inspector General of Police Muhammad Tahir, with a zero-tolerance policy against criminals to safeguard law-abiding citizens.
The operations led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons, including 95 pistols and revolvers, six Kalashnikovs, seven shotguns and rifles, 770 rounds of ammunition and 48 magazines.
In addition, police intensified action against drug traffickers, arresting 62 suspects and seizing hashish, crystal meth (ice), opium, gutka, liquor, and illegal cigarettes.
The crackdown also resulted in the recovery of three stolen vehicles, 44 motorcycles and 13 mobile phones. Furthermore, police impounded six vehicles and motorcycles for violations under Section 550, while tinted glasses were removed from 2,253 vehicles.
