The head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation has condemned the United States for imposing broad and unilateral sanctions on the country’s civil aviation sector, warning that the continuation of such measures could harm regional and international aviation, IRNA reports.

Captain Abouzar Shiroudi said in a Saturday statement to the ICAO Council President that Iran expects urgent attention to the serious and ongoing consequences of US extraterritorial restrictions on its civil aviation.

He noted that after the failure of the US and Israel to achieve their goals during their imposed wars in 2025 and 2026, Washington expanded its pressure to civil aviation, sanctioning all Iranian airlines on September 8, 2026.
