Iran says members of Brics, SCO working to counter US unilateralism

Iran’s foreign ministry has contended that members of Brics and SCO use every opportunity to demonstrate their opposition to the US unilateral approach and to seek solutions to counter its consequences, IRNA reports.

Addressing a weekly press conference, Esmaeil Baqaei said countries are using multilateral platforms like the SCO and Brics both to voice opposition and to devise practical responses to the consequences of US behaviour.

He also dismissed the notion that Iran can be isolated, arguing that a country that defends itself and has earned global admiration cannot be sidelined, even if some nations avoid saying so publicly due to their deference to Washington.

He pointed to the US’s declining credibility, citing the US attack on Iran and its partnership with Israel as a serious strategic error.

The international community, including the region, has recognised that US actions have undermined international norms essential to global peace and security, he added.
