Iran has issued a directive outlining the country’s civil defence programs for this year, with a focus on three possible scenarios: the end of the war, a ceasefire and full-scale war, state broadcaster Press TV reports.
The directive, issued by Major General Ali Abdollahi, designates the period from October 26 to November 2, 2026, as Civil Defence Week under the slogan “People-centred civil defence, a resilient Iran.”
“The programmes will focus on public preparedness, protecting people and national assets, and ensuring government support for the continuity of essential services,” Press TV reports.
The directive lists three possible scenarios: “normal conditions; the end of war, intermediate conditions; neither war nor peace, such as a ceasefire, and full-scale war”, the broadcaster adds, noting that plans will be tailored to each scenario.
The programmes and drills will focus on non-natural, man-made and hostile threats, distinguishing them from crisis management for natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods.
