PESHAWAR: A suspected target killer and member of a banned organisation, allegedly involved in the assassination of Maulana Idrees, was killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Bara tehsil of Khyber district, police said on Wednesday.

They said that the operation was carried out following intelligence on the presence of the suspected target killer, adding that a cop was also injured in the IBO.

Capital city police spokesperson Alam Khan said that the killed terrorist was wanted by law enforcement agencies in cases of targeted killing, terrorism, and other serious crimes.

On May 5, former Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl MPA Maulana Mohammad Idrees was killed after unidentified assailants opened fire on him, police said.
