LAKKI MARWAT: Several hideouts of terrorists were destroyed during a joint search and strike operation in Karak district on Thursday.
A police official said that the police and counter-terrorism department personnel launched the operation in the mountainous terrain on the special instructions of DPO Imran Khan.
He said that the law-enforcement personnel were dispatched to the Banda Aman Kot, Gurgari and adjacent mountainous areas on the information about the presence of terrorists there.
“CTD DSP Imranuddin led the operation wherein law-enforcers used drone technology for aerial surveillance of the difficult terrain,” he said.
The official said the police thoroughly searched suspected locations and potential hideouts of anti-peace and anti-social elements.
“During the operation, the law-enforcement personnel equipped with advanced and modern gadgets set ablaze and destroyed the hideouts of terrorists,” he said.
He said that such operations would help improve law and order and establish lasting peace in the entire region. He said the police were committed to eliminating terrorism.
Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy was killed in the Kotka Saifal Area of Lakki Marwat district, police said on Thursday.
The murder took place within the limits of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak Police Station of Serai Naurang town.
The police said that Fawad, a resident of Shakh Quli Khan, shot at and killed Sadiq for refusing friendship and fled.
They said the body was transferred to the tehsil headquarters hospital for post-mortem. The police initiated an investigation after registering a case against the killer under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Meanwhile, a resident of Bannu district was robbed of his motorcycle in the Kurrum Par area here on Thursday.
Usama Khan told Dadiwala police that he had gone to Landiwah on his motorcycle to attend a weekly fair.
He said that on his way back, when he reached Kotka Shahzar, three armed men appeared from the reed forest, snatched the motorcycle from him and fled.
The complainant identified one of them as Farhan. Police said that they registered a case against the suspects and began an investigation.
