RAWALPINDI: Another three dengue patients arrived from Adiala Road, Fauji Colony and Wah Cantonment on Friday in Holy Family Hospital (HFH), taking the current season tally to 37.
Out of the total 15 patients, admitted to the Holy Family Hospital, 12 were confirmed dengue patients while report of the three patients is awaited. Holy Family Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Ijaz Butt told Dawn that the number of dengue patients was increasing in the hospital but we managed to accommodate them.
He said that in Outpatients Department and Emergency, the patients with similar symptoms were asked to go for dengue test.
Benazir Bhutto Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Sharjeel Sheikh told Dawn so far the hospital did not have any confirmed dengue patient. He said that total 42 beds had been allocated for the dengue ward.
District Health Officer Preventive Dr Jawad Zahid told Dawn that as many as 37 dengue patients reported in current dengue season. However, he said that the dengue virus is under control.
He said that in August no dengue patient was reported in Rawalpindi while 27 patients reported in September and the number of the patients has increased in first two days of October.
“In the last two days, four patients were reported on October 1 and three on October 2,” he said.
He said that the anti-dengue campaign launched in the garrison city and 1,400 teams formed for indoor and outdoor surveillance.
He said that the highest number of larvae was detected in Misrial Road, Afshan Colony, Allama Iqbal Colony in Rawalpindi Cantonment and Ratta Amral and Dhoke Naju in the city while significant larvae detection areas are, Naseerabad, Dhoke Babu Irfan, Gunjmandi, Hazara colony, Dhoke Hassu and Takht Pari.
