RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has asked the inspector general of police to allow it to expand its facilities on the pattern of ‘Police Khidmat Markaz’.
Punjab police have established citizen facilitation centres known as Police Khidmat Markaz (PKM) in 36 districts, including Rawalpindi.
The Punjab Highway Patrol has also been providing selected services at 360 of its posts on the pattern of ‘Police Khidmat Markaz’ to facilitate citizens.
The PHP is already providing six services - crime report, loss report, copy of FIR, violence against women report, registration of tenants and private employees - out of the 14 Police Khidmat Markaz services.
DIG PHP Dr Mohammad Athar Waheed had sought permission from DIG Police IT Lahore for providing more services to the public.
In a letter, Dr Waheed said the PHP wanted to expand its facility to 11 services and therefore five new services should be allowed at the posts.
These five facilities are police character certificate, general police verification, vehicle verification, issuance of learners’ driving licence as well as renewal of learners’ driving licence.
On the other hand, Bahria Town management has requested the senior superintendent of police PHP to deploy staff on the main road linking its Phase VII and VIII for efficient checking of traffic violators and criminal activities.
