Saudi Arabia is pressing the US to drop its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and return to the negotiating table, fearing President Donald Trump’s move to close it off could lead Iran to escalate and disrupt other important shipping routes, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing Arab officials.

Gulf energy exporters worry Iran could escalate and close the Bab al-Mandeb, the main exit route for bottlenecked Persian Gulf oil, the report noted.
