French President Emmanuel Macron says he is willing to host a conference on supporting Lebanon’s army and helping rebuild the country’s battered south, Al Jazeera reports.

Macron said after talks with Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides that the conference will take place when Lebanon deems it appropriate.

The conference will also aim to release additional European funding.

Macron adds that he and Christodoulides support the idea of a European Union partnership agreement with Lebanon.
