Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the need to build on the commitments enshrined under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding during a bilateral meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
During the meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, PM Shehbaz stressed that Pakistan will continue diplomatic efforts to achieve peace in the region, stating that Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent trip to Tehran “augured well in this regard”, a statement from the government says.
