Iran's Baqaei urges Americans against being 'cannon fodder' for Israel

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has urged US citizens against being “cannon fodder” for Tel Aviv, after an opinion piece in the Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post proposed forgiving the debts of young Americans in exchange for fighting in the Middle East war.

In a post on X, Baqaei questions why Americans should be offered debt forgiveness to fight in a war “Israel wants continued and expanded”.

“Your lives. Your taxes. Someone else’s war,” he writes. “Do not let anyone turn you into the cannon fodder — and the bill — for a war you never chose. Do not let anyone turn your children into mercenaries for their illegal ‘war of choice.’”
