The US military has denied Iran’s claim to have struck an unmanned military vessel in the contested Strait of Hormuz, Al Jazeera reports.
Earlier, state-run media reported Iran hit a sea drone trying to enter an area in Hormuz that it called “restricted”.
“The report came from Iranian state media, and it’s a total lie,” said Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesman for US Central Command.
The comments come after the US said it struck Iranian oil tankers in retaliation for Iran launching ballistic missiles at Navy warships.
