Iran’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Gholamhossein Darzi has called a planned UN meeting on the Iran nuclear file a “clear abuse” of the Security Council’s authority, state news agency IRNA reports.
In a letter to France’s UN envoy, he denies “unfounded allegations and distortions” about Iran’s nuclear programme and says the renewed accusations are “political rather than technical”.
“The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) Board of Governors’ non-consensus resolution adopted on September 9, 2026, is politically driven by the United States and E3 (Britain, France and Germany), and fails to meet the requirements of objectivity and impartiality,” the letter reads.
“Like previous resolutions, it is silent on the unlawful, criminal attacks by the United States and Israeli regime against Iran’s safeguarded nuclear facilities.”
