Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran’s reopening of the Strait of Hormuz depends on the United States’ return to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), ISNA reports.

He said the country’s discussions with Oman were aimed at a new maritime route in the strait, and not reopening.

“Iran’s condition for reopening the Strait of Hormuz is the return of the United States to its commitments in the Islamabad MoU,” Araghchi was quoted as saying.

“We will provide the participating countries with the details of the agreement with Oman and the related plans for the new route,” he added.
