Bahrain has emphasised that commercial vessels moving through the Strait of Hormuz must be allowed to do so without fees or permits, according to Al Jazeera.
In a statement, the government says any proposal on navigation in the strategic waterway must involve the participation of all Gulf Cooperation Council member states.
“Any arrangement regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz must be based on the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and endorsed by the International Maritime Organization,” it adds.
