Russia, China veto on anti‑Iran draft will be recorded in history: Iran envoy

Iran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, says that Washington has failed in its attempt to push an anti‑Iran resolution through the UN Security Council, praising Russia and China for their decisive support, IRNA reports.

In a post on his X account late on Friday, Jalali said that the US sought to impose pressure on Iran through a new resolution, but the attempt collapsed after Russia and China opposed the draft.

He thanked the two countries for standing firmly by Iran and preventing an unfair and politically motivated initiative, saying their joint veto had marked a historic moment in the Council’s record.

He added that the threadbare instrument of sanctions belonged to a past era and had already lost its effectiveness, noting that the future world will be shaped by countries that believe in a multipolar order and multilateral cooperation.
