Ali Zeynivand, a spokesperson for Iran’s Interior Ministry, has said rebuilding damaged civilian infrastructure is the country’s “top priority in its post-war programmes,” Al Jazeera reports.
“Repairing residential homes and public service facilities, such as police stations, takes precedence over any nonessential government projects,” he said at a news briefing, as reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
Zeynivand said nearly 75,000 “residential units, along with some infrastructure and connecting bridges in provinces, including Hormozgan and Golestan, have been damaged as a result of the enemy’s attacks”.
Referring to record-high inflation in Iran, after decades of Western sanctions, the spokesperson said, “Rising prices are causing concern for the people, and all officials are working to address this issue.”
