Iran’s Fars news agency reports that the country’s government is considering a legal provision that would impact undersea cables in the Strait of Hormuz.

Citing the deputy chairman of Iran’s National Security Commission, the agency outlines that Article 10 of the Hormuz Security Provision Strategic Plan deals with the seabed, including the passage of cables and other data transmission equipment.

“Based on what has been approved, the passage of cables and other equipment related to data transmission through the Strait of Hormuz shall be subject to the approval of the competent authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Fars says.
