US' Rubio suggests Trump open to meeting with Iranian president

Asked if US President Donald Trump is willing to meet with his Iranian coutnerpart, Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the president is “open to meeting with anybody”.

“We’re open to that. I don’t think anything is scheduled at this point, but we’re certainly open to something like that, especially if it has the prospects of leading to something positive,” he says in an interview with American broadcaster NBC.

Rubio also reiterates that Tehran can never possess a nuclear weapon.
