More than 124,000 schools across Iran have reopened, marking the start of a new academic year for more than 16.5 million students, according to state broadcaster Press TV.

Classes for primary-school students will begin at 8 am local time, while lower and upper secondary classes will start at 7:30 am local time, Press TV reports, citing the announced schedule by the Ministry of Education.

“Preparing schools, organising teachers, registering students, and distributing textbooks were among the measures carried out ahead of the start of the academic year,” the report says.
