QUETTA: The judicial commission investigating the terrorist attack on the Mangi Dam Pumping Station in Ziarat district on Thursday reviewed a report submitted by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) regarding action taken against fake news and social media accounts allegedly involved in spreading misinformation following the attack.

The commission, headed by Justice Muhammad Amir Nawaz Rana, held the hearing in open court and recorded the statements of several witnesses.

In compliance with the commission’s directives, the NCCIA submitted a report detailing the measures taken since the attack and the action initiated against the dissemination of fake news on social media.

The report said several social media accounts allegedly involved in spreading fake news had been blocked, while further action against such accounts was underway.

Meanwhile, the director of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority also submitted responses before the commission.

The commission reviewed the statements of the witnesses and the reports submitted during the hearing before adjourning further proceedings until the next hearing.
