ISLAMABAD: A man was arrested along with his son and an employee on the charge of bootlegging, said the police on Saturday.

According to an FIR registered in the Margalla police station, a police team patrolling in F-8/3 got information that the bootlegger’s son was delivering liquor to a buyer on Service Road, F-8/3. The police reached there and spotted a man taking out cartons from a car.

The police caught the man but the person in the car drove off after seeing the police, the FIR said. The police chased the car but failed to intercept it.

Five cartons of liquor were recovered from the arrested man, who was a driver of the bootlegger. He told the police that the man who escaped from the spot was a son of the bootlegger.

Station House Officer (SHO) Khurram Sahazad said a raid was later conducted at the house of the bootlegger in F-7, which resulted in his arrest along with his son.

The police also seized 90 bottles of imported liquor from their possession besides impounding the car.

The SHO said a case had also been registered against the three persons identified as Malik Qadoos, his son Malik Abbas and their driver Mohammad Naveed.

He said the bootleggers had been jailed many times in the past too.
