HYDERABAD: The director general (DG) of Health Services, Sindh, has formed a three-member committee to inquire into allegations of embezzlement and misappropriation of funds in the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) campaign of Hyderabad district by District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Lala Jaffar.

Headed by Deputy Director General Dr Aftab Kazi as chairman, the body comprises of Provincial Health Development Centre (PHDC) Jamshoro Director Dr Nazir Ahmed Rind and Additional Director Dr Ameer Mohammad Khan. The committee was formed on Oct 21.

It held its sitting on Friday, but complainant Qazi Abdul Hakeem Abbasi arrived late. He sought time to reappear before the probe body which scheduled its next sitting for Nov 13.

The complainant was informed about Oct 25’s inquiry and required to bring ‘concrete evidence’ regarding his allegations of embezzlement of the EPI funds.
