RAWALPINDI: The bodies of two victims who were washed away by strong currents during Thursday’s flash floods were retrieved by Rescue 1122 staff on Friday and handed over to their heirs.

Another body of a teenage boy was found in the RA Bazar area on Friday. The body of a teenage boy, who had been missing since Thursday, was found in a plot adjacent to his house within the limits of RA Bazar.

Police, quoting Waris, the father of the victim, said he was unaware that his son was missing, as the boy’s grandmother had come to visit, and he assumed his son, Abdul Rafa, 14, had gone with her.

However, on Friday, when the water level receded, the boy’s body surfaced.

Some children playing nearby spotted it, and the boy’s mother later identified him.

A spokesman for the emergency services said the body of Nadeem Shahzad, 55, a resident of Lalazar II, Rawalpindi, was recovered from water in village Dhala, Adyala Road, and handed over to his family.

The second body, of Muhammad Mehran, 26, a resident of Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was found in a private housing society.

The victim’s family did not allow the rescuers to shift the body to the hospital.

Three drowning cases were reported to the Rescue Services on Thursday. Only the body of the victim who drowned in Hazara Colony was recovered that day, while efforts were still underway to recover the body of a teenage boy who drowned in a nullah in Saddar.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed after crashing into an electricity pole lying on the footpath on Rawal Road on Friday.

According to police, the motorcyclist, identified as Syed Raheel Habib, 40, a resident of Gulraiz Colony, lost control of his motorcycle—apparently due to over-speeding—and crashed into the pole.

As a result, he was seriously injured and died on the spot. His body was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH). The Waris Khan police are investigating the incident.
