LAHORE: An exhibition of mixed media artworks on the theme of ‘Healing through Art’ opened at the Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture (Pilac).

The exhibition is being organised by the Hubullah Welfare Society, in collaboration with Pilac. It was jointly inaugurated the other day by the chief guest, cartoonist Javed Iqbal, guest of honour Dr Izhar Waris and Pilac Director General Mehboob Alam. The art show has 117 or so artworks. The major concept of the exhibition was based on cancer patients.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ehsanur Rehman, a UK-based cancer specialist, said that it was the 4th cancer art exhibition whose objective was to create awareness on cancer.

Mr Rehman said some of the paintings displayed at the exhibition had been made by cancer patients themselves.

Pilac Director Asim Chauhdry held the exhibition in high esteem, saying such exhibitions were helpful in creating awareness on cancer. He said the exhibition had a rich collection to offer in terms of artworks based on the very concept of Healing through Art.

Javed Iqbal praised the exhibition and said ‘healing through art’ was a new concept in visual art. He said the artists had beautifully painted the theme of the exhibition.
