KARACHI: A man, alongwith his brother, was arrested for allegedly murdering his pregnant wife and another man in the Sukhan area in the name of so-called honour on Monday, police said.

They said that suspects Irfan and his brother, Waheed, were arrested for stabbing to death 46-year-old Sadar alias Sherdil and 35-year-old Eidan.

The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said the deceased persons had sustained multiple stab wounds, adding that the woman was pregnant.

The Malir police said that they recovered the knife allegedly used in the killings. Irfan is reported to be the husband of the deceased woman.

“During investigation, the suspects confessed to committing the murders in the name of honour,” the statement added.

Couple found murdered in New Karachi

A couple was found murdered in New Karachi on Monday, police and rescue officials said.

They said the bodies of Noor Mohammed Khan, 70, and his wife, Huma, 45, were discovered inside their home in Sector 5-J. The victims appeared to have died a few days ago. The corpses were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said deceased Huma had “ligature marks around her neck”, while her husband had sustained multiple injuries. She added that the case was being treated as a homicide, though the exact cause of death would be determined after histopathological and chemical examination reports.

Bilal Colony SHO Anwar Ali said the couple lived alone. He added that it was the woman’s second marriage. The deceased man’s daughter had come to visit him ahead of Eidul Fitr but received no response despite knocking, and his phone was switched off. She alerted relatives, and the woman’s children also arrived at the scene.

Police came and broke down the door and found the bodies inside.
