QUETTA: The district administration of Surab on Sunday imposed a curfew across the district till August 15, citing concerns over the law and order situation.

According to an official notification, “The curfew will remain in force daily from 8pm to 9am during the specified period, starting from August 9 to 15, 2026.”

The administration also directed citizens to avoid leaving their homes unnecessarily during curfew hours, fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and strictly follow the security standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued for the protection of their families.

The notification warned that individuals violating the curfew would be responsible for any harm or loss resulting from their actions.

Legal action would be taken against those found violating the restrictions, it added.

Revised timings for Khuzdar commercial centres

Meanwhile, the district administration of Khuzdar announced revised operating hours for commercial centres across the district amid growing security concerns.

According to a notification issued by the office of the Khuzdar deputy commissioner, the measure had been taken temporarily as a precaution to protect the lives and property of citizens and the business community.

Under the new order, all markets, shops, hotels and other commercial establishments in Khuzdar district will remain closed from 8pm to 10am daily.

The order will be effective immediately and will remain in force until further directives.

However, pharmacies, medical stores, private hospitals and other healthcare facilities have been exempted from the restriction because of the essential nature of their services.

The district administration directed assistant commissioners, magistrates and police officials to ensure strict implementation of the order in their respective areas.

The administration also urged traders and the public to cooperate with the authorities to help minimise potential security threats and ensure the safety of citizens and their property.

Officials said the restrictions would be reviewed and amended only after an assessment of the security situation.

Earlier this week, the district authorities in Kalat and Khuzdar directed traders and the business community to close shops in the evening and advised residents to remain indoors at night due to security concerns.
