KARACHI: Police on Tuesday claimed to have gunned down a suspected robber after an encounter in Surjani Town.

Area SHO Sohail Khaskheli said that three suspects riding two motorcycles were allegedly looting citizens near Kaneez Fatima Society when Shaheen Force and police patrol reached there. On seeing the law enforcers, the suspects resorted to firing. In an ensuing exchange of gunfire, one armed robber fell from the bike after being shot while his two accomplices managed to escape.

The wounded suspect was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. His identity could not be ascertained immediately.

The police said one pistol, a cell phone and the bike were recovered from his custody.
