ISLAMABAD: A training camp for the national boxing squad has commenced here at the Pakistan Sports Complex, as part of preparations for this year’s Asian Games.

The camp is being organised by the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) with support from the Pakistan Sports Board, said a press release issued on Wednesday.

Five boxers, two men and three women, will represent Pakistan at the continental games scheduled to be held in Nagoya and the wider Aichi area in Japan from Sept 19 to Oct 4. According to PBF president retired Col Nasir Ijaz Tung, the five boxers would take part in the camp.

The male boxers who will feature in Asiad include Samama Rehman and Irfan Khan while the female boxers are Fatima Zahra, Maria Rind and Malaika Zahid. These athletes are receiving advanced training under coaches Tariq Siddiqui, Mohammad Liaquat Mughal and Nisar Khan.
