SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Two brothers were injured in a suspected quadcopter attack in the Birmal tehsil of Lower South Waziristan district on Saturday morning, police sources said.

They said the strike occurred in the Dara Balai locality of Azam Warsak, adding the injured were identified as Farmanullah and Arifullah.

The injured were initially shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Wana, and were later referred to a hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.

The incident caused concern among residents over the deteriorating security situation across the South Waziristan region, where several areas have witnessed bomb blasts, targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom and attacks on police and security forces.

Residents said suspected quadcopter attacks increased over the past year, causing fear and concern among the local population.

They said that common people were reportedly injured or killed in such attacks and urged the authorities to take measures to ensure the safety and security of civilians.

Residents demanded a thorough investigation into the latest incident and called for enhanced security arrangements to protect the lives and property of people.

Authorities did not state the latest incident and the exact nature of the attack and other details could not be independently verified.

Meanwhile, unidentified armed men kidnapped a resident, identified as Shaukatullah, from the Landi Doag area of Birmal tehsil on Saturday, police said.

They said the motive behind the abduction was not immediately known.
