QUETTA: Metropolitan Corporation Quetta Administrator retired Major Bashir Ahmad Barech announced a series of civic initiatives aimed at tackling sanitation, illegal construction and severe parking problems across the city.

Addressing a press conference at his office, Administrator Barech outlined a structured blueprint to revamp the city, once locally revered as the “Little Paris” of the region.

To improve civic service delivery and ensure efficient waste management, the city is being divided into four primary zones. Each zone will be overseen by a dedicated area supervisor and initially staffed with 20 sanitary workers to bring municipal services directly to citizens’ doorsteps.

“Ensuring cleanliness, resolving municipal problems and alleviating the everyday hardships of our citizens are our top priorities,” Mr Barech said.

The Metropolitan Corporation is launching a pilot project to convert 10 major thoroughfares into “Model Roads”.

The Model Roads programme will prioritise intensive sanitation drives, clear road markings, public toilet installations and strict anti-encroachment operations.
