THE Federal Finance Minister, Rana Mohammad Hanif has categorically declared that the last date to file declarations of black money will not be extended beyond Aug 31 … says a handout. In a statement … yesterday [Aug 28] afternoon the Minister said that certain elements were reportedly spreading rumours … that the deadline set for disclosing hidden wealth would be extended. Describing the reports as “totally baseless and mischievous” Mr. Hanif said the nefarious game was being played to mislead the intending declarants by creating unnecessary uncertainty in their mind. He said the Government was closely watching the activities of these elements and would deal with them in a befitting manner… .

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Teheran,] three Americans working for a US defence contractor were shot and killed this morning [Aug 28] by terrorists in a busy Teheran street as they were driving to work, Iranian police said. A US embassy spokesman confirmed that three Americans, employees of International Rockwell Company had been killed but no details were yet available. … Police said a search for the terrorists has been launched.
