ISLAMABAD: About 26 centres have been set up in a dozen cities for the written test for different posts in the capital police.

The police said the services of the Virtual University had been hired for the written test, which will be conducted at 26 university centres in 12 different cities.

The written tests will start on Monday, and roll number slips have also been issued to applicants who passed the physical test. More than 8,000 personnel are being recruited in the capital police in five different phases.

In the first phase, 1,725 posts of constables and assistant sub-inspectors are being filled for the Operations, Logistics and Security divisions.

The police received more than 90,000 applications for the 1,725 posts and, after scrutiny, about 72,000 applicants were declared eligible for the physical test.

About 42,000 applicants cleared the medical test and were issued roll number slips for the written test.

The test is an hour-long, computer-based written examination comprising 80 multiple-choice questions.

The question paper will be computer-generated with the assistance of a database created for the purpose.

Each question paper will be different from the others. The computer programme will check the answers and award marks.

The top 5,175 or 6,900 scoring candidates will be selected for interviews. Three to four candidates will be shortlisted against each seat.
