KARACHI: Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Monday launched several development projects in the SITE-Superhighway Industrial Area.

He announced that the projects, initiated under a Rs700 million special grant from the Sindh government, would be completed by December 15.

SITE-Superhighway Association of Industry President Masood Parvez, General Secretary Ehfaz Sheikh, elected councillors, relevant officers and industrialists were present at the groundbreaking ceremony for the projects.

Speaking to the media, the mayor said the development initiative was part of a broader effort to improve infrastructure and basic facilities in Karachi’s industrial zones and to promote business activity and employment.

He said the Sindh government had allocated more than Rs9.25 billion for development work in seven industrial zones of Karachi, with the funds transferred to the respective industrial areas. Of this, Rs700m had been allocated to SITE-Superhighway.

According to the mayor, industrialists had been given the authority to identify and prioritise development schemes in their respective areas. He termed the arrangement a unique example in which the government had provided funds while allowing industrial stakeholders to determine development priorities.
